Four Seasons Safari Lodge Details
The undisputed capital of the world’s wild, the Serengeti in Tanzania embodies the Africa Hemingway had in mind when he wrote: “I loved this country and felt at home here, and where a man feels at home, apart from where he was born, is where he is destined to go.”
The people at Four Seasons understand and appreciate the Serengeti, and a stay at their Serengeti Safari Lodge is an experience hard to beat—from the plains and their idyllic rocky kopjes to the vast array of large, small, fascinating, and unexpected animals that inhabit it. The Serengeti, the southern and somewhat drier part of the Serengeti-Maasai Mara ecosystem—about the size of New Hampshire—has long been almost synonymous with the African safari. Awe-inspiring for its vastness, its almost infinite skies, and its long golden stretches, its million-year-old stillness, the Serengeti enchants with its grandeur and small moments of grace; we may well see, as Elspeth Huxley did, a “galloping giraffe, like a tiger lily bowing with dignity before a gusty breeze.”
Accommodations at the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti
The 77 luxurious rooms at the Four Seasons Serengeti range from the sumptuous to the grand Presidential Villa, including smaller luxury suites and villas. All are designed to offer views of the vast plains from the outside, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and large private terraces (many with their own crystal-clear swimming pools), and all offer the highest level of comfort, cozy and beautifully decorated, along with what the English call “mod cons”: from Wi-Fi, discreet air conditioning, and flat-screen TVs to hypoallergenic pillows, cheerfully and promptly provided in the Lodge’s signature style.
And after a dip in the infinity pool or a visit to the gym (or the business center), dining at the Lodge is a refreshing treat, whether at the Maji Bar and Terrace, the Sundowner Bar, the Boma Grill, Kula’s Restaurant, in your suite, or on a picnic during a safari.
Note for families and children
The Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti welcomes children and has many programs and activities awaiting them, including—among many other things—membership in the Kijana Klub, which has its own extremely well-equipped space in the Lodge’s main building.
Activities at the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti
Our African Huella Director feels right at home in Tanzania’s Serengeti. Private safaris with him and his trusted driver-guide are eye-opening. Here is the Africa we have dreamed of, “a paradise caressed by light and air in their most special forms,” as the great safari lover Peter Beard once said.
The Four Seasons is proud to showcase the Serengeti in all its splendor—from a cultural perspective, with respectful and welcoming visits and walks with the Maasai of Tanzania, to an experience that enriches the soul through extensive safaris and explorations, and in collaboration with our African Huella Director and his inspiration, passion, and enthusiasm, we will do everything possible to offer you a comprehensive experience of the ever-wonderful Serengeti.
