Embalakai Camp is situated on the banks of a small tributary of the Grumeti River, beneath large acacia tortilis trees. This stream has pools of water most of the year, making the camp a bustling hub of wildlife activity year-round. It’s common to sit at the camp and watch herds of zebras and wildebeests pass by. An ideal location for viewing the Serengeti wildebeest migration.
The main feature of the Embalakai camps is their central location
The camp is located about 35 minutes north of the Seronera airstrip, near the turnoff to the western corridor or to the northern areas. Check the exact location at 2.314282S 34.862425E. It is also a great halfway stop for guests traveling from the Crater area to the northern Serengeti, as it is only a 2-hour drive from Kogatende. The perfect place to stop along the way in a stunning and remote setting. Embalakai Camp is just a one-hour drive from Kirawira in the western Serengeti, about 43 km away.
The camp is perfectly situated for hot-air balloon safaris.
Your hot-air balloon safari adventure begins early in the morning as you leave the camp. It is still dark, and you may be lucky enough to spot nocturnal animals on the way to the launch site, which is very close to Embalakai Camps.
Proximity to the Grumeti River:
Embalakai Camps is located just 95 km from the Grumeti River viewpoint. The Grumeti Woods are home to one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife spectacles. Every year, thousands of wildebeests brave the cold to cross the sparkling waters of the Grumeti River, the centerpiece of the Grumeti Woods. The river itself is famous for its population of giant Nile crocodiles. Some of these prehistoric monsters measure up to 17 feet long and are 70 years old.
Embalakai camps operate in the most environmentally sustainable way possible. We use low-impact energy generation whenever we can and minimize waste at the camp. We avoid plastic as much as possible, use solar power, recycle, and much more.
At our camp, we use solar power and a 20 KVA generator for electricity.
