Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Arrival in Arusha.
Airport transfer to your hotel.
Check-in and relax after your journey.
Depending on arrival time, optional short Arusha city or local market visit.
Overnight: Arusha.
Arrive in Arusha and meet your safari driver/guide at the airport. Transfer to your hotel in Arusha for check in and relaxation. Depending on your arrival time, you may have some free time to explore the town or relax at the hotel.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park, Game Drive and Overnight in Karatu
Early morning departure from Arusha.
Drive to Tarangire National Park.
Full-day game drive with picnic lunch.
Look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions and other wildlife.
Late afternoon drive toward Karatu.
Overnight: Karatu.
After breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival, begin your game drive through the park, famous for its large elephant populations, ancient baobab trees and diverse wildlife.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing with an afternoon game drive. In the late afternoon, leave Tarangire and drive toward Karatu for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti National Park
Early breakfast and departure toward Serengeti National Park.
Enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and continue toward Serengeti.
Game viewing en route through the Serengeti.
Afternoon game drive around your lodge/camp area.
Overnight: Serengeti.
After breakfast, depart Karatu and drive toward Serengeti National Park through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Continue into the Serengeti, enjoying game viewing along the way. The Serengeti is renowned for its vast plains and abundant wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and other predators and herbivores.
Arrive at your accommodation in the afternoon and enjoy an evening game drive, depending on the location and camp schedule.
Day 4: Full Day Serengeti Safari
Full-day safari in the Serengeti.
Early morning game drive for the best wildlife activity.
Continue exploring different areas depending on seasonal wildlife movements.
Possible sightings include lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffalo, giraffes and large herds of wildebeest and zebra.
Picnic lunch in the park.
Afternoon game drive before returning to camp.
Overnight: Serengeti.
Enjoy a full day of safari in the Serengeti.
Start with an early morning game drive when wildlife is particularly active. Continue exploring the plains and different wildlife areas throughout the day, with opportunities to see large herds of wildebeest and zebra as well as lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes and buffalo.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing with the afternoon game drive. Return to your camp in the evening.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater, Game Drive then Overnight in Karatu
Early morning departure from Serengeti.
Drive toward Ngorongoro Crater.
Descend into the crater for a game drive.
Picnic lunch in the crater.
Explore the crater floor for wildlife, including the possibility of seeing lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos and rhinos.
Ascend the crater in the afternoon and continue to Karatu.
Overnight: Karatu.
After breakfast, depart Serengeti and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. Explore the crater floor, home to a remarkable concentration of wildlife. With luck, you may see lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras, wildebeest and the endangered black rhinoceros.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater before ascending in the afternoon and continuing to Karatu.
Day 6: Hadzabe and Datoga Cultural Experience, Lake Eyasi to Arusha
Early departure from Karatu toward Lake Eyasi.
Visit the Hadzabe people and experience aspects of their traditional way of life.
Continue with a cultural visit to the Datoga people, including traditional blacksmithing where available.
Lunch/refreshment.
Afternoon drive back toward Arusha.
Overnight: Arusha.
After an early breakfast, depart Karatu for the Lake Eyasi area for a cultural experience with the Hadzabe and Datoga communities.
Visit the Hadzabe and learn about their traditional hunter-gatherer lifestyle, including their relationship with the surrounding environment and traditional activities.
Continue to visit the Datoga community and experience aspects of their traditional culture and craftsmanship, including traditional blacksmithing where available.
After the cultural experience, begin the drive back to Arusha. Arrive in Arusha in the late afternoon or evening and check in at your hotel.
